DON’T CHANGE YOUR PRODUCT, CHANGE YOUR STRATEGY.
A few weeks ago I had a discovery call with a client who had multiple successful retail locations with customers around the world. She recently moved to a new city where her product was a little less conservative than the local clientele would like to see. She was feeling extremely discouraged and planning on changing her entire product to fit her more local conservative audience.
However, I could tell that the heart behind her business was in the creation of her original product. She manufactured her original product in her home country, her designs were inspired by her culture and wanted to share that with the world.
So I said (respectfully,) forget local shoppers - let’s take your business online and reach an audience who truly loves your product because local shoppers weren’t your target customer anyway.
When launching a product that already has a proof of concept, don’t let people who are not your target shoppers dictate your approach. Instead, define a brand strategy that will help you connect with those who are your target audience.
Because people who are meant to be your customers will connect with the heart & purpose behind your brand.
